Dr. Jason Minton Brown

Welcome to GEOL 114!

I studied Anthropology as an undergraduate, theology and forestry at Yale, and completed my PhD in Environmental Humanities at UBC in 2017. I have an eclectic background for sure! My work focuses on environmental ethics, environmental perception and philosophy. I am keenly interested in the relationship between human beings and the earth at a time some are calling the 'Anthropocene' the age of human domination. While this course will focus mainly on the geological forces behind 'natural disasters,' we will also look at the social, political and cultural importance of these events. I look forward to meeting you!
