Courses » ENGL 250: Literary Communities and Cultures

Description: A study of works from a selected literary community or movement, and their characteristics as a collective of multifaceted artists, thinkers, and influencers. The course will consider the cross-pollination of genres among writers in friendship, the relevance of biography to the features of literary production, and collective response to the cultural, political, and social challenges of their time. Literary communities such as the Oxford Inklings, the Bloomsbury Group, the Transcendentalists, Stratford-upon-Odeon, the Black Arts movement, or others may be selected.
